Thanks Max, for the great work.
And a very big thank you for all those who have put time and energy into this project.  I think people of the future will be so grateful that a group in 2007 took this initiative.  It's yet another example of how, by working together, we can achieve great things.
I look forward to our gathering again at the carols and (re-)opening in December.

Progress Report 12/10/2007
Hi All,
Here are a couple of photos. There has been a couple of weeks of relative quiet while we waited for the resource consent to be granted for the work to happen under the protected English Oak tree near the new site. I am happy to announce that the consent was granted yesterday. Quality Demolition will start work in earnest at both sites on Monday morning. Military Rd site: The labyrinth has been sawcut into 8 pie slices. The saw cuts have not damaged the tiles to any great extent, and the concrete looks sufficiently robust to survive the lift. The wooden centre section was removed, but the interface with the concrete was only plaster, so this has broken up to some extent. Shane Gray, Operations Manager for Quality Demolition, is running the job. He tells me that they have saved all the pieces and some may be able to be reused. There will certainly be a need to restore some tiles. Hutt Hospital site: Work will start here on Monday. The consent carries some conditions which will govern how the excavation is carried out. We don't foresee any problems here. Cheers, Max
